Amethyst is the most highly prized form of Quartz, it can vary from a Deep violet to a vivid purple colour.
Amethyst is the Birthstone for February and the stone most associated with the planet Jupiter. Amethyst is said to bring good luck, when worn as a ring or amulet.
It is also believed to ward of sleep, protect from drunkenness and sharpen the intellect.
