Peridot jewellery Birthstone for August
Peridot is form of magnesium iron silicate.
It has a faint green colour and is translucent.
Peridot has also been known as olivine and chrysolite. The only known source of ancient Peridot was the island of Saint John. This island was rumoured to be the inspiration for the book Treasure island. The joke is that the treasure was buried my mother nature and not the pirates themselves. |
